                Barnaby was born to two traditional parents, raising him to be a proud and respectful Lord and to know the rules and lay of the land. He grew up exactly as they had meant him to be, in the image of what they thought to be the perfect dark Lord. As a young stag, he was quite the wooer of the ladies, never passing up the chance to strut and fight stags for the approval of the women-folk. Eventually he met a very special doe during rut-- He only meant to guide her home to her den, but wHOOPS! They ended up with their little pile of joy, Magpie. At first, he was horrified that his daughter was so ugly, but as she grew he noticed the effect it had on his daughter- all the teasing, all the name-calling...He never really stopped to think how words like that effected the does and it hit him more fully than he expected. It hit him that these were living, breathing beings with emotions despite the facade of being okay. From that realization, he kept his opinions to himself on fawnling's coats.
                
                When his daughter Magpie was 5, he and his favorite harem doe (Miraell) took in a newly orphaned a scruffy looking perlino filly by the name of Tuft, or more affectionately referred to as "Tufty". She was the daughter of a young doe who had passed due to complications. From the beginning, they could tell she was going to be a handfull-- and she was. Through numerous hours of attempting to train Tufty to be a nice little female, Barnaby and his wife gave up. She was always going to be the most obnoxious little thing  he'd ever met-- and even if he wouldn't admit it verbally, he wouldn't've had it any other way.
